Natural Resources Library under renovation through summer

The Natural Resources Library

The Natural Resources Library will undergo a substantial renovation during the spring and summer 2021 semesters. The transformed library will reopen in fall 2021. Adjacent areas of the first floor of Jordan Hall are included in the renovation.

During the renovation, faculty, staff, and students can pick up requested items and borrow technology from a temporary space in Biltmore Hall, Room 3003 when that building is open.

Designed to encourage interaction as well as individual study, the new Natural Resources Library will expand into the building’s lobby, removing barriers and adding a variety of study and lounge spaces, including group study rooms. A new Libraries service core will house traditional functions, including circulation and technology lending, a smaller print collection, staff space, and the Ask Us desk.

The project also includes a new coffee shop, providing food and beverage choices in an underserved area of the campus. The new spaces will draw upon a palette of colors and materials inspired by nature, featuring soft greens and light-stained wood, reflecting the natural sciences theme. Watson Tate Savory is the architectural firm for this project.
